Winter is Here!

The ski season is barely 17 days old, and Loon is already well on its way to an awesome winter. I just ran the numbers, and the 15 trails we have open today is four more than this time last year! If you count skiable acres, we’ve got 48% more terrain than on Nov.28, 2011.

Thanks to New Hampshire’s most powerful snowmaking system we’ve been able to open trails like Lower Walking Boss, Brookway, and Lower Bear Claw this week. With temps headed for the single digits the next few nights, we hope to open Upper Walking Boss and a few other trails by the weekend. Check out some pictures we took today.

Poaching the goods on Upper Walking Boss. UWB should be open by the weekend.

Great sun on Bear Claw Extension this morning.

This dude’s pretty stoked about snowmaking. As well he should be.

Making some sweet tele turns on Lower Walking Boss.

Enough white whales on Upper Walking Boss this morning to get Captain Ahab all hot and bothered.
