Loon Mountain is getting a big new playground this summer: Paul Bunyan’s Backyard.
Paul Bunyan’s Backyard is our new summer fun park. Perfect for families, PBB is located next to the Loon Mountain Adventure Center. Everything has come together incredibly well, and the entire park will be open this weekend, July 13-14.
The centerpiece of the park is the LogJam Maze, where families race against the clock as they they find their way to various checkpoints and unlock a riddle.
The maze definitely looks tricky, but there’s a platform overlooking the maze that friends and family can use to shout out directions and encouragement. The coolest part about the maze is that we can change its configuration. So if you think you’ve got the maze dialed, it could be completely different the next time you visit.
Apart from the maze, Paul Bunyan’s Backyard also features the new Gyro Loop swing, a crazy ride that allows you to control when you spin, flip, and drop. We’ve ridden it a few times, and it’s a huge rush. The ride lasts about two minutes, but those two minutes are incredible.
You’ll also find an assortment of games and food in the park. You’ll be able to grab a snack, lunch, and even some cotton candy. And if you win one of the carnival-like games, you’ll get a prize.
Oh, and did we mention that we’ve got a few bouncy castles? Check them out.
When you’re done winning prizes and getting un-lost from mazes, be sure to walk over to the Adventure Center to try out the new Spider Web. It’s a 30-foot-tall tower of stretchy, springy elastic that kids climb through to reach the top. To get down, they’ll ride a cool inflatable slide.
Don’t forget to check out all the other cool stuff over at the Adventure Center like ziplining across the Pemigewasset River, rock wall climbing, and bouncing on the bungee trampoline. We’ve also got scenic gondola rides, the Summit Cafe, Segway PT tours, and more. Check it out for yourself!
