June 24-26          New England Brewfest

12274597_10153081037355855_6763041201354646670_nMore than 100 craft beers from 30+ breweries will be on tap for this ultimate craft beer weekend. July 3          Loon Mountain Race

Climbing a stairway to heaven. Or North Peak.

Named the “Most Competitive Hill Climb” by Runner’s World Magazine, this ridiculously tough course climbs more than 3,000 vertical feet in less than seven miles. The final mile of the race climbs straight up Upper Walking Boss, which makes us a little bit queasy just thinking about it. This year, the race will serve as the USATF Mountain Running National Championships, with the top 6 men and 4 women advancing to the World Mountain Running Championships in Bulgaria. If you’ve ever wanted to visit Bulgaria, this is your chance! Hurry up and register before you talk yourself out of it.

July 9          6th Annual Monster Mud Run

Let there be mud. Lots of mud. Image courtesy of Hinkley Photo

This fast and filthy 5k features more than 20 obstacles and 1,000 feet of climbing over 3.1 ruggedly muddy miles. But don’t worry – you don’t need to be a hardcore OCR veteran to have fun and do well on the course. Even kids can get in on the action during the Mini Monsters Run, featuring a mud-filled, pint-sized obstacle course. Register online by July 4!

Aug. 7          Touch a Truck Day

Go ahead, touch a truck. Or a snowcat. Or a backhoe. Your call.

Kids – and kids at heart – will love getting an up-close look at the trucks, grooming machines, and other heavy equipment that keeps Loon running all year long. The best part? Admission is free.

Sept. 16-18          New Hampshire Highland Games & Festival

Kilts, cabers, and man buns. Oh my!

One of the largest Scottish festivals in the country, the Highland Games will feature top Scottish bands, classic Highlander cuisine, Scottish heavy athletics, and dozens of other unique cultural attractions. It’s just like Scotland, except, you know…in New Hampshire.

Oct. 1                    O2X Summit Challenge

There’s only one hill.

Standing between O2X racers and the summit of Loon Peak are some of the most challenging obstacles Mother Nature can provide. Starting near the banks of the Pemigewasset River, runners will traverse old logging trails, climb steep glades, and bushwhack through stunning fall foliage as they make their way to the summit of Loon Peak. Register today.

Oct. 8-9                White Mountain Oktoberfest

Keg Tossing_Oktoberfest
Grab a bratwurst and toss a keg. White Mountain Oktoberfest is here.

Beer, brats, and peak fall foliage join forces for a festive weekend in the White Mountains. Highlights include an oompah band, stein-holding contest, and keg-toss – plus activities and contests for kids, too. Admission is free, and valid IDs are required. Please drink responsibly.
